Coming To BJP HQ Tomorrow With My Leaders': Kejriwal's 'Jail Bharo' Dare After Bibhav Kumar's Arrest

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of orchestrating a political vendetta against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Kejriwal's accusations come in the wake of the arrest of his former personal secretary, Bibhav Kumar, in connection with the Swati Maliwal assault case, further intensifying the political turmoil in the capital. The drama unfolded with the arrest of Bibhav Kumar by the Delhi Police earlier today. Swati Maliwal, an AAP MP, had lodged a complaint alleging assault by Kumar at Kejriwal's residence on May 14. She claimed to have been subjected to physical violence, including slapping and kicking, causing injuries to her chest and abdomen. In response to Kumar's arrest, Kejriwal wasted no time in condemning the move, labeling it as part of a larger game orchestrated by Prime Minister Modi. In a fiery statement during a media briefing, Kejriwal accused Modi of playing "jail ka khel," or the game of jail, and vowed to lead a march to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters along with AAP leaders, MPs, and MLAs on Sunday at noon. "You can see how they are after AAP…I would like to tell the Prime Minister – you are playing this ‘jail ka khel’…Tomorrow, I am coming to the BJP HQ with all my top leaders, MLAs, MPs at 12 noon. You can put in jail whoever you want…" Kejriwal asserted. The arrest of Bibhav Kumar has stirred controversy not only for its timing but also for the subsequent legal proceedings. Kumar had filed an anticipatory bail plea in Delhi’s Tis Hazari court, which, however, became infructuous as he was already in police custody by the time the hearing concluded. This has raised questions about the due process of law and the transparency of the legal proceedings surrounding the case. Amidst the escalating tensions, the Delhi BJP chief, Virendraa Sachdev, hit back at Kejriwal, accusing him of staging a "jail bharo drama." Sachdev questioned Kejriwal's silence for six days following the assault on the woman MP at his residence, demanding accountability from the AAP leader. “Stop doing this drama. We are asking you just one thing – you did not break your silence even 6 days after your woman MP was beaten up at your residence…Tell us who is responsible for the misbehavior with the woman MP. Why have you not broken your silence over it?” Sachdev asserted. The unfolding events have further polarized the political landscape in Delhi, with AAP blaming the BJP for what they perceive as a targeted attack on their party members. The BJP, on the other hand, has accused Kejriwal of resorting to theatrics to deflect attention from the allegations against his aide. As the Swati Maliwal assault case continues to unravel, it raises pertinent questions about the impartiality of law enforcement and the politicization of legal proceedings. The standoff between the AAP-led Delhi government and the BJP-led central government underscores the deep-seated animosity and power struggle between the two political rivals. The coming days are likely to witness heightened tensions and political maneuvering as both parties dig in their heels, determined to assert their dominance in the national capital. Amidst the chaos, the focus remains on justice for Swati Maliwal and the integrity of the legal process in addressing her grievances.
